U-City Conference

The WCI delegate participated to the 2011 International Symposium and Workshop on Ubiquitous Cities that took place between 28 and 29 November 2011 in Sydney, Australia. The 2011 International Symposium and Workshop on Ubiquitous Cities brought together people from different sectors to discuss important issues regarding the capacity of digital interventions to create local connections that sustain urban development, at a time when affordable strategies are imperative. The Symposium is organised by the WCI's academic journal's (International Journal of Knowledge Based Development) editorial board member Dr Jung-Hoon Han at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. The WCI Executive Director Associate Professor Tan Yigitcanlar, WCI's International Advisory Board Member Professor Sang-Ho Lee and WCI's Global Knowledge Based Development Community member Associate Professor Youn-Taik Leem were invited as keynote speakers and panel discussants to the Symposium (at the photo from left to right: Profs Yigitcanlar, Lee, Han, Leem). WCI's active participation in this international symposium further strengthened the Institute's existing research ties with Australian and Korean academics, policy-makers and practitioners on the topic of ubiquitous cities.
