The Manchester City Region (MCR) is the second largest conurbation in the UK with a population of over two and a half million people living within 12 miles (20km) of the city centre. It regroups the two cities of Manchester and Salford and the neighbouring boroughs of Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. The Manchester City Region is the economic driver of the North West region and represents over £50bn of the nation’s GVA (Gross Value Added) (51% of the entire NW region).
