What is KCWS
The Knowledge Cities World Summit TM (KCWS) is an independent, global, periodic gathering of professionals, both practitioners and researchers, at large related to the fields of ‘knowledge cities’ and ‘knowledge-based development’. KCWS is an initiative and a registered brand of the World Capital Institute (WCI). The WCI is an independent international Think Tank whose purpose is to further the understanding and application of knowledge as the most powerful leverage of development. KCWS is annually conducted in association with one or more hosting organisations. The First KCWS was organised in Monterrey, Mexico in 2007, The Second summit in Shenzhen, China in 2009 and The Third one in Melbourne, Australia in 2010. These summits interconnected the diverse communities contributing to knowledge-based development (KBD) from specialised fields (i.e. knowledge and intellectual capital management, urban studies, developmental economics, human geography, sociology, political science, and complexity studies) as well as from practitioner and application fronts (i.e. government, international agencies, professional associations, private foundations and institutes, and NGOs).
